Hi. I am a first time BJPer, but not new to beading. My passion is crazy quilting. I am also a beadaholic, I have more than I will ever know what to do with. But then is it really possible to have TOO many beads?
For the last couple of years my husband Tommy and I have been following the BPJs. He is my number one supporter, my rock, my creative muse, and my souldmate all rolled into one. He encouraged me to do this year's project. He was even planning on designing some of the blocks for me to bead. He passed away very unexpectedly on October 29th. I am not sure I will ever recover from that. I am going to use the BPJ to work through my grief (or try to). My project is going to highlight our lives together and our love.
I look forward to following everyone's progress and watching as your creativity takes wing.

Dear Mary, I am so sorry to learn of your husband's unexpected death. Your idea of using the bjp to work through your grief sounds like a very healing way to help you and record your love for him. You will find lots of support here in your journey.

Yours,
Susan

Hi Mary

Beadwork is the perfect medium to work through your grief and get to the other side. Tommy sounds like a wonderful man. He'll be watching your progress from the other side, I am sure of it.
Welcome to the Bead Journal Project!

So sorry to hear your sad news. Since he knew of this group and followed it with you, it will give you a way to grow into your new life but keep him with you as you do. Welcome to the group.

Dear Mary, you must hurt a lot. I sincerely hope that beading will give you a sense of belonging, not only to us other beaders, but to you beloved husband too. He will be with you and still inspire your blocks, even from beyond. You are very courageous to still want to participate and share. I hope we will be worth your trust.

I too am honored to be part of your grief journey. To highlight your life with Tommy and your love for each other in each month's piece will be one way to remain connected with him and to feel his presence in your life. I agree with Brenda... that somehow his love will surround you with each bead you stitch and yours will be with him wherever he is. Thank you so much for posting and for sharing.

I want to thank each of you for your kind words. Ya'll are so very right about feeling him with me as I work on these pieces. I find myself lost in happy memories and actually catch myself smiling occassionally. While I am doing this for myself, I hope that everyone is able to see the love and happy memories each piece is filled with.
