Hello everyone!

I'm new to the BJP and new to beading on fabric. I've made jewelry and have done net beading on to glass ornaments/objects. I just recently finished my very first bead embroidery for a Christmas present and I have to say I am hooked! I've bounced around teaching myself all kinds of crafts over the years, so I am really looking forward to learning about different beading techniques.
Looking forward to the new year getting to know everyone and seeing all the creativity!

I haven't decided if I'm going to try a theme for the year or just see what each month brings or what size/shape to go with even. Still trying to figure out the visual journaling thing, how to change words in to images is going to be a challenge for me I think. I do want to be able to display them in groups at the end of the year in shallow shadow boxes, it's the first time I've really wanted to be able to display art I've made on my own walls.

Mod note: Could I get my blog site address changed to "http://squirrellyduck.blogspot.com/"? Thank you!

Welcome to the group. Don't overthink things. Think of this as expressing a thought, a color, a mood, a feeling or highlighting favorite beads or learning new things rather than exactly changing words to images. It's much easier that way.

Hi Whytefeather.
I too want to incorporate beadwork into shadowboxes. I love the idea of creating 3 dimensional shadowbox pieces and incorporating the use of light as well. I haven't looked at your website yet but of course will visit you there. I look forward to exchanging ideas and being in this group together.

Hi and welcome Stacie! Here's an idea... On Jan 1, sit down with a paper and pencil. Write down all the words that pop into your mind. When you run out of words, read over your list and circle the one word that seems the most compelling. Then start your beading with that one word tucked in the back of your mind. It's easier to work with one word at first rather than to try to show a whole month of thought and happenings. Speaking from experience, I have to add that having my beadwork on my walls makes me feel really GREAT!
