March BJP!!!

This piece is called Trinisunshine Reef and it was inspired by the picture of a fish that I drew from a colouring book years ago. I just loved that fish and later drew it on a canvas that remained there for approximately two years.

When the Toronto Bead Society's Bag of Bead Challenge came up this was my opportunity to make use of this neglected guy. For this challenge I didn't want to make jewellery and  the idea behind it is that I attempted to make a necklace and it fell to the bottom of the ocean. This necklace was then found by the fish who of course it's not letting me have it. That fish lives in Trinisunshine Reef and there you'll find all sort of strange creatures that you'll never ever ever ever find in another because there is "only one Trinisunshine Reef". http://www.flickr.com/photos/trinisunshine/

I dig the mixed media approach, quite fun! the sequins are really nicely placed. Did you simply bead through a stretched canvas?

Thank you once again ladies. The sequins and shells I glued on to the stretched canvas. Some of the "creatures" I beaded on and others were made using different bead weaving techniques. But I had a real good time putting my reef together.
